TAMPA BAY
AREA RESTAURANTS
The following
opinions are from our personal experiences as we search
for the best dining values in the Tampa Bay Area.

Brandon
Jesse's Steak &
Seafood Restaurant
524 W. Brandon Blvd
(Rte 60)
Brandon, FL 33511
(Near I-75)
(813) 685-2381
Touted as one of the best steak and seafood
restaurants in the area! We called to make
reservations and were told they do not take
reservations but there is normally a 25 minute
wait so if we would call before we started for
the restaurant, they would add us to the waiting
list. We called, then arrived in about 25-30
minutes. They checked and sure enough, our name
was on the list but the wait would be about 25
minutes. Which, by the way, was told to all of
the diners as they came in after us. After a 30
minute wait we were shown to a table. The menu
had many steak and seafood selections. One in
our party ordered the 10oz NY Combo which was a
Strip Steak, with shrimp, mushrooms, baked
potato, and Caesar salad. ($16.95). Two of us
ordered the Queen-sized Prime Rib, with baked
potato and garden salad. ($17.95). The garden
salads were large, but the greens were more limp
than fresh. The NY strip steak and the the shrimp were done well but not
very tasty. The prime ribs were done to our order and did have good
taste. We ordered the apple crisp a la mode for dessert. It was
huge and loaded with enough sugar that it crystallized on the sides of the dish. The waitress was
the best part of the meal, as she was friendly and professional, though
she did have to exchange one of our coffee cups that arrived dirty, and
then forgot to bring the new cup, until we mentioned it.
Largo
Bella Italia
Pizzeria & Restaurant
Bardmoor Village
10801 Starkey Road
Largo, FL 33777
.(727) 397-9076
A family-owned, pizza parlor (and more), that
has a strong local following. They have been in
business since 1981, so they must be doing
something right. They serve the thin crust NY
style pizzas and the typical Italian dishes, and
all are homemade. We tried the hot meatball
sandwiches with peppers and parmigiana. They
were good size and tasty and only about $6.50.
The atmosphere is casual with approximately 10
booths and 10 tables. The service is friendly
and fast. |

Plant City
Parkesdale Farm Market
3702 West Baker
Street
Plant City, Florida 33563
(813) 754-2704
One place not to miss in the
Tampa Bay area, requires a short drive East to Plant
City. This small agricultural town is World renown for
being the strawberry capital of Florida, so you may also
expect, and also find, a strawberry shortcake oasis that
is second to none.
"A little like
a biscuit with a touch of cake, our shortcake is just
sweet enough to compliment the juicy strawberries and
moist enough to soak up all the sugary flavored berry
juices". This sweet dessert
piled high with whipped cream, is available January -
April. Enjoy your treat sitting at a picnic table in
their
greenhouse amidst a forest of
tropical plants and trees. Parkesdale Farm Market is open to the public 7
days a week from 9 am – 6 pm. Parkesdale is
located about 30 minutes from Tampa, and about
1 hour from Orlando.
From Tampa, take I-4 to Exit 17, Branch Forbes Road Turn Right at the
Exit Ramp onto Branch Forbes Road. At the first
traffic light, turn Left onto Highway 92. Go ¼ mile and
the Farm Market is located on the Left side of the road.

Clearwater
Acropol Inn Restaurant
2552 Sunset Point Road
Clearwater, FL 33765-1500
(Just off Hwy 19 N)
(727) 796-2879
Stopped in for a late lunch at 1:15. Quite a few patrons, but not enough
to excuse the poor and slow service. We waited 15 minutes while the wait
staff tended to duties other than us. Finally the busboy took our drink
order. Then another wait for our waitress to finally approach the table
behind us who had been there longer than us. Best have decided what you
want when they arrive as it may take awhile for a second approach! We
ordered the gyros ($6.95) and coffee. The gyros were large and tasty but
lacking in sufficient topping. A coffee refresh was not offered.
Tampa
 Busch
Gardens Tampa The #1 family attraction in the Tampa Bay Area.
Busch Gardens Tampa
3000 E Busch Blvd
Tampa, FL 33612
(813) 987-5524
We would be remiss not to mention dining at the area's biggest and best
attraction! We found everything we tried to be well made and tasty. Not
what you would find at most theme parks. We always make it a point to
stop at Sultan's Sweets for blueberry muffins and coffee (Starbuck's)
once each time we visit. We also strongly recommend Zambia Smokehouse,
located in Stanleyville, for some fine BBQ.
Clearwater Beach

Original Frenchy's
41 Baymont Street
Clearwater Beach, FL 33767
Always a fun spot to visit at the beach.
A small dining spot just off the main thoroughfare in this beautiful
beach community. We enjoy the place and stop in whenever we are out to
the beach. Great daily specials like Baja Tacos for $1.50, Cubans for
$3.95, Fried Shrimp Baskets for $5.95, and Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches
for $5.95. Also check out their "Beer of the Month" for $2.50. Good
food, lively beach atmosphere, and happy people. Hard to beat! |
