Abercrombie Park
Park St N & 38th Ave N,
St. Petersburg

Upon arrival, when you step out in the parking lot
you may first notice the long and fairly straight unpaved
but inviting path leading to a breathtaking view of Boca
Ciega Bay.

It has long been a choice spot to view a
beautiful sunset at the end of day!

As you walk the wide path, you’ll soon be in a “zone” taking in the lush green grass and bushes that are spaced in no particular order on either sides of you. A branch of the trail includes a raised boardwalk section leading through a marshy area. This marsh area is alive with large bushy ferns and other greenery.

AllTrails website lists this Park trail as .6 mile out and back. Easy walking but more difficult for wheelchairs. (See link at the bottom of the page.)

There is room to safely roam off the trail and dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash. There are benches for resting and picnic tables to enjoy your lunch with friends or family.

This beautiful waterside park is in what is known as the Jungle Terrace neighborhood and contains faintly discernable shell mounds and an historic Indian Midden. These are what remain of a large pre-Columbian village on the site. There is some explanatory signage at the path’s entrance. (Also see a history link below)

You will find people strolling out to the water and back. Some with their dogs and others with friends or family. It is just that kind of pretty, peaceful and relaxing place. It gives our minds a tranquil rest from the everyday trials.

A suggestion for you. Abercrombie Park is located between – and near – two previous Parks we have visited. Walter Fuller Park (#8) is just 1 mile to the South of Abercrombie and Veterans Memorial Park at Bay Pines (#50) is just 1 mile to the North.

So, you might consider packing a picnic basket, inviting some friends and make a day of it and visit all three parks. Niki and I guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy that day.
