You may hike the nature trails and visit the boardwalk, fish for bass and channel cat along the shoreline or launch your boat and cruise Lake Tarpon. You can reserve one of the nine picnic shelters for your group’s next get-together. Be the first to score one of the many first-come picnic tables found throughout the park and especially one of the shady and inviting picnic pads right on the shoreline. You will find much to see and do in this beautiful park.

The park has two sections – North and South of Tookes Road - see the park map. Our first five photos show some of the views and amenities in the South end. It’s a wide open grassy area with lake views from the shady shelter areas. Visit a real sinkhole and learn some interesting information posted about the subject of sinkholes. Find a nice play area for the kids where parents and grandparents will also find picnic tables to sit in the shade while keeping an eye on the youngsters. There are modern restrooms, an unpaved nature trail, and a nice-sized dog park and all with plenty of free parking.

Our remaining photos are from the North end of the park beginning near shelter #3 and the tip of the peninsula extending out into Lake Tarpon. Benches and picnic tables invite you to sit and take in the lake view and boats passing by. It is also where we pick up the unpaved nature trail along the South shore of Salmon Bay that takes us to the boardwalk, ending up at the boat launch area.
Note the area on the map labeled “picnic pads”. These reinforced pad areas extend into the water with space that includes a picnic table and a grill. These inviting spots are available on a first-come basis. Quiet places where you might have lunch with a friend or maybe do some work on your laptop. (The folks in the photos gave us their permission.) You might even see a gator swim by while you are there!

Take your time on the boardwalk and enjoy all there is to see.
