It's another beautiful day for a walk in the park!
Today we are headed for Cooper's Bayou Park
on the Easternmost edge of Clearwater
just beside Old Tampa Bay.

The park is located on North Bayshore Boulevard, about 1.5 miles South of Safety Harbor's Main Street. It is another park hugging the thirteen-mile Ream-Wilson Trail. You will note on the trail map link below we have already visited several parks along this trail running from Clearwater to Safety Harbor (with more trail-oriented parks to come).

It is described on its website as a “smaller area with a lake, an exercise course, fishing, trails & a launch for kayaks & canoes”. If you take that description just at face value and pass it by, you will be missing another beautiful little gem that deserves your visit.

There is a nice sized - and free - parking area. The first thing you notice at the end of the parking lot is a place from which you can launch your kayak or canoe on the bayou itself.

Of course, the main attraction is the small lake with the level, paved sidewalk that encircles it. It’s easy walking for all ages as well as being wheelchair accessible and also friendly to your best four-footed friend. They do ask that you not bike on the loop around the lake.

It is a nice place to fish but at water’s edge do be watchful for an alligator you may spot now and then. Never walk your dog at any water’s edge. Most bodies of water in Florida either have had, do have or will have a resident gator. The parks are safe, and we have never had an animal or people problem. Just use common sense.

Try your hand exercising on the permanent “VitaCourse 2000” exercise stations in the park. A program designed to “improve your strength, flexibility and endurance.” The signs will tell you all about it.

Just a walk around this pretty lake is an enjoyable exercise. You can also choose to continue Northward towards Safety Harbor for its beautiful parks, shopping and restaurants or head Westward to continue exploring the Clearwater/Ream-Wilson Trail.
