Today we are traveling on Bayshore Blvd (Alt-19) in Dunedin. Just North of where 580/Main Street intersects we find Josiah Cephas Weaver Park hailing us from both sides of the road.

On the West or Gulf side of the street we find that long, long pier that not only offers great fishing but also panoramic views of St. Joseph Sound with Caladesi Island State Park to the West.

The large lawn area is a perfect place to spread your blanket, catch some sun and watch the birds and other activity on the water. It is also the place to catch a perfect sunset with the pier or Caladesi Island in the foreground.
In normal times the city sponsors some great musical entertainment on designated weekends in the Spring and Fall. Good music and great sunsets make a combo that is hard to beat. Bring your blanket or a folding chair and enjoy a beautiful evening.

Just across on the East side of the road (Broadway/Alt-19) you will find the shady side of the street. You will note on the accompanying maps that this part of the park is bordered on the Eastern edge by The Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail. "The Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail is a 45-mile rail trail in Pinellas County, Florida. It stretches from Tarpon Springs in the north to St. Petersburg in the south, passing through the towns of Palm Harbor, Dunedin, Belleair, Clearwater, Largo, Seminole, South Pasadena, and Gulfport." (Source: Wikipedia)

You will find restrooms, shelters, picnic tables, exercise equipment and a large play area for the kids - all located on this side of the park.Check the maps for the main entrance and the three parking areas. Parking is free but this park can become a little crowded, especially on the weekends.
