This park is definitely that and much more. At its heart is an approximate one mile scenic loop on a wide path that's either paved or with sections of boardwalk over the wetland and marshy areas. It is stroller and wheelchair friendly.

The path winds along waterways, marsh and forest areas. There is also a pier extending into the pond area. You'll likely see many types of aquatic life including turtles, gators and the many types of birds who feed there.

Fishing is permitted and we hear it's quite good but no cast netting please. Dogs are always welcome on their leash. There are benches spaced along the way – some with great views of the waterways and others in large lawn areas among the oak trees. Some green areas have a picnic table where you might enjoy lunch with friends or family with ample room to throw a Frisbee or toss a football around.

It is hard to visualize that this area was once a very large mobile home park but serious flooding issues dictated that something had to be done. We, the public, are the beneficiaries of the corrective action that was taken to create this Kapok restoration project area. Read more about it on the trail sign – and also from the link below - interesting reading.

In short it's a big beautiful outdoor space just waiting for you and we do encourage you to visit, Breathe in the fresh air, enjoy the scenery and just put life and everything else on hold for a couple of hours.
