Marshall Street Park is a beautiful
9-1/2 acre neighborhood park
and is worth your visit for
several reasons.

It sits in the middle of a residential area but maintains a natural Florida habitat look yet having many modern amenities. There are two parking lots offering quite a few spaces and they are free to use, of course.

The first entrance brings you into the Park near the restrooms and a beautiful children's play area . . .

with play equipment for most age ranges. There are benches for parents to sit where they can keep an eye on their little ones. The back wall of the restroom building holds some interesting informational hangings. The restrooms are spotless by the way.

Behind the restrooms and play area is a picnic shelter. One of two that can be reserved. From the shelter you follow a wide, unpaved trail to the second area, the adult play area with two half-size basketball courts, two tennis courts, two racquetball courts and another parking area.

This short unpaved, grassy trail leading between the two areas is along a creek where butterflies flit and wildflowers often bloom. At the end of the trail just before the ball courts is a new wooden footbridge that replaces the one damaged in previous storms. This bridge leads to a trail through the natural habitat on Duke Power property. When we last visited, the trail was overgrown, and we didn't follow it very far. Perhaps it has been cleared as of this posting. We queried the Town and when we hear back that the trail has been reopened, we will update this post. There is also another wooden bridge connecting the main trail with the sports courts area.

This is a small Park but as we said it is quiet, shady and has many amenities that make it worth a visit especially when you need some quiet time with nature.
