These wetlands play an integral part in soaking up run-off water and preventing floods in a large section in this area of the County.

It really is a pleasant walk with Nature and boasts one of the largest Maple swamps on Florida’s West Coast. You will find it has the Park-like feel while retaining a wild yet serene and comforting atmosphere. You might choose the mile long meandering boardwalk to the observation tower, the paved path along the creek or the half-mile dirt path to observe the wonders of Nature up close.

The Park is easy to reach from any point in the County and an easy drive from Tampa as well. It is completely free to visit, and the parking is free as well. For that reason, plus its beauty and accessibility, it’s easy to see why it is a very popular place for locals and visitors alike. If you catch it on a slow day with few or no other people, you truly will experience the joy of being one with Nature.

If you'd like to pack a picnic, there are picnic tables and one covered pavilion with a grill. Restrooms and water are available in the park office building. There are restaurants nearby and Niki and I have ordered take-out from nearby restaurants in the past and enjoyed it while visiting the Park.

Dogs are allowed in the park, but not on the boardwalk or in the nature center. Dogs must be on a leash no more than six feet in length. Owners are requested to pick up after dogs. Fishing and swimming are not allowed.
